The third application period for the Dakota County Farmland and Natural Areas Program (FNAP) opened July 25th.

The Farmland and Natural Areas Adopted Plan is now available from the Dakota County website. Included is an executive summary,
chapters outlining the problem, farmland, and natural areas, an implementation plan, and a multimedia presentation.
The Soil and Water Conservation District's role in the Farmland and Natural Areas Project was to develop a detailed land cover inventory for prioritization of natural areas in Dakota County.
Funding for 148 square miles of land cover mapping came from a 1999 Farmland and Natural Areas Grant awarded to the Dakota County Office of Planning.
